Searching my books but don't find the factory options for tire size on Farmall 300. What's the largest tire you could get for the 300 in '54 ?

Steve my IH parts book really doesn't tell you what size tire were available from IH. It only list the rim sizes and what tires IH recommended on those rims. How ever when I bought a 300 & 400 Farmall being as the rims were interchangeable I ordered both with 14 inch rims. I had 14.9 X 38 on the 300 and 15.9 on the 400 and these came into the dealer this was. I still have these tractors.

you couldn't get any in '54 because they didn't come out with 300's until '55. the largest size offered from the factory was 13.6 x38.

Thanks for the info. As far as year of manufacture my 300 has a serial number of 1742. Guy Fay's book says serial number 3360 was the first one of Jan. 1955. Unless I read it wrong.

I don't have a book, but the most common size for the H or Super H was 11.2 or 12.4 (new designation). 13.6's work nicely. My personal opinion is that you don't need anything larger. With the right rims you can go 14.9's. However I think 14.9's or 15.5's are starting to be overkill, unless you are running through a swamp. I'm talking about farm use, not pulling, which I know nothing about.
