Lance, You lucky Dog! Lets see some pics of this ol'Darlin! There are a few of us here that really like LPs. So what is the value of a Stage III,
SMTA-LP (factory) not field conversion., Buying an unrestored they will be about the same as any other SM that is 50 yrs old and in whatever shape. I know of two factory SMTA-LP that are for sale /or sold, both are in the $2500 ballpark.
Restored...Only the Lord would know that, depends on whos looking at it, Where is it in the country. Quality of the restoration done
Later,
John A.

I'm not too sure about the value, but I will throw one piece of information into this fray... In my opinion, the propane is great because propane engines show considerably less wear compared to their gasoline counterparts with equal time on the engine. Anyone here ever taken apart a motor that runs of of LP/CNG/Propane? 9 out of 10 times they look brand new inside. It is too bad however that most of the LP/gas tractors usually have cobbled on looking fuel tanks.

I don't think propane will raise the value. It's the same as a gasoline engine, except for the propane attachment, and the tank ruins the lines of the tractor as far as I'm concerned. But, if I could find a running MTA for $1950, I would buy it regardless of the fuel.

I to am a proud owner of a SMTA factory propane. There was only 500 of these made for IH by an outside company. I gave $1950 for mine with a factory wide front and it runs good. I believe that these will be worth quite a little in a couple of years, just look at the diesel SMTA price.

Whatever they paid is exactly what it is worth. The fact that it runs on propane does not add to the value. In my opinion, the propane option decreases the value.

I'll wade in here with my usual tyrade. I wish people would stop looking to make big gains buying and selling tractors. I can't think of a single hobby where such activities improved the activity in question. Let's just drive up those prices and then all the rich people will own all the tractors and the rest of us will be left collecting bottle caps.

(P.S. Anybody got an original Faygo Lemon Lime?)

Just wanted to clear one thing. My family isn't into the buying and selling for gains. We are in it like any other average person. To enjoy what IH made and put it to use. Let it work and purr in the fields, dress it up and take it to shows! The only reason I asked what the value may be is to prove to my the women in the family, like most other men would have to do, that the tractor is worth having. Except to some women who are married to tractor lovers, $$ is the only way to prove worth, instead of the purr and the shine of the Old Iron!!
