rear wheels on super A

I have a super A with mismatched rear wheels, not the rims but the center hubs or what I call the wheel itself. One is like a stamped metal that is about a 1/4 inch thick the other looks to be cast iron and is naturally heavier. Was there a choice of these wheels for weight reasons or is the stamped one just a cheaper version. I could really use another stamped wheel to match because I don't need or want the weight. So if anyone can answer my question and or tell me where I can get another stamped wheel I would be forever grateful. You are welcome to send answers to me At- rivrwimp1@aol.com Thanks alot Lance

Lance: Bob and wh are right, that is factory equipment and if you value your well being keep it that way but keep the cast wheel on the right.

Hugh
If its a safety issue why didn't they do the same thing with the SAV ( higher center of gravity and ground speed ) ?
Thanks

Bud: Good question, I would think it more important on the V models than the regular ones. I have never been around V models. I didn't realize this was the case. There is if I remember a lot of cast in both wheels of a SAV. I wonder if that may be reasoning.

I do remember a neighbor changing wheel tread on his SA and thus changing the cast wheel to oposite side. He said to my dad one day," Take my tractor for a drive its very unstable, I'm even afraid to drive it." Dad told him to get out his manual, it does specify in there, cast wheel on right.

I bet your right--the overall mass of the larger cast wheels probably dampen out any effect from the offset engine. I was looking at my SC and SAV side by side and I bet the SAV wheels are significantly heavier. In fact I would think the SAV wheels without weights would outweigh the SC's with a set of weights.

heavy wheel is for right hand side. it offsets the weight of tractor. helps to keep it on the ground.

The tractor was set up that way from the factory to "balance" the weight on the tires. Since the heavy tractor sits closer to the LH wheel, weight is added to the RH wheel to provide stability and traction.

Why didn't they do the same thing with the SAV's? It would seem more important here because of the higher center of gravity and higher ground speed.
