Hi! I have a 1950 Farmall M that I just bought an original IH Wide Front End for. I will be switching the front ends around but have never done this before. What is all involved? Does anyone have any helpful tips or suggestions in tackling this project? I very much appriciate any input! Thanks Again,

-Rob

Thanks alot guys! I really apriciate all of the tips and suggestions. That engine hoist sounds like a good idea-I've got one of those. I just took the loader off of the tractor this morning and will be picking up the front end this weekend. So we'll see how it goes. Thanks Again!,

We used an engine hoist to hold up the Wf as we positioned it. We has a spreader bar and chained it so bar was above the grill and hung streight. Still took two of us to get it fit up and bolts started.

One thing you fogot to mention. One bolt, think it is right front, has long head to limit travel of steering. When I changed my singel fron to a double that was the one I cut off to get loose, then wondered why steering wheel would go all the way around. Would not do that with wide front but think you still need that limiting action.

It's a real easy swap. what you need is a railroad jack (sometimes called a farm jack, but you get the idea), a wrench, a ratchet and socket, some penetrating oil of your choosing, some jack stands, and that's it! Simply jack the front end up after blocking and locking rears. Set 'er down on your jackstands (set them high to provide clearance). Undo the four bolts holding your narrow front on (easier said than done, but I "done" it so it's not too bad!) I forgot to mention some friends. You need about two of 'em. Position your WF under neath and have your two friends lift it upwards while you position the first bolt in. Once you have at least two bolts in and started, you're good to go. Tighten her up and drop her down and you're done. Zak
