I have a F-20 that I would like to do some field work with. Was wondering how the F-20 would compare to a H in the field. Some of the equipment I would like to pull with it is 2-16 plow,18 foot straight disk,10 foot tandem disk,5 section drag. Thanks

Joel, the H Farmall basically was the new replacement tractor for the F-20 in Farmalls releasing of the letter series. The H was faster geared, intended to have more power, easier to handle, and had modern improvements added to it some of wich were options from factory such as hydraulics, batttery start and lights, and road gear. In all reality, the F-20 was a heavier built and tougher tractor. In the right senerio could probably out pull the H. As far as going from one to the other, the biggest thing you are going to notice is the F-20 being slower geared, and ruffer to ride if you are on there all day. As far as pulling something in the feild, you will pull anything with the F-20 that you can pull with an H.

Your F20 should handle the plows. Mine works to pull 2-14" but I'm in heavy clay. I'm not familiar with a straight disk. We used to pull an 8' double disk without any problems, 10' will probably give it a workout. The F Series number usually indicates the horsepower at the belt pulley. F12 at 12HP and so on. The Nebraska Tractor Test numbers for the F series come in slightly higher, but close.

my F20 pulls 2 16s real nice. I would think a 10 foot tandem disk would be a load if it were doing much. same with the drag, if you set the teeth it will pull hard.

It would pull a 2 furrow plow. The 2 in 20 and the 3 in 30 means how big a plow they can pull. I don't know much about disc's, give it a try if it pulls, great.

I'm 19 but i've ran H's, and f-20's in the field along with many others. They are both very good tractors. The H is more comfortable to operate, and has slightly more horsepower. The f-20 is a lower r.p.m engine and weighs a little more and in my opinion, has a little more lugging power. most f-20's don't have a road gear, and most are hand start as well.. if you decide on the f-20 and use it hard remember to oil the valves on a daily basis... the f-20 has manual valve oilers!! hope this helps..
