I wonder what a 30's F12 is worth. It may or may not run, or may be stuck, but is there any demand for this tractor? I'll know more about the unit after the weather warms up. I'd appreciate any opinions on the subject. Thank you

The easiest way to get this info is to look at what's there and what isn't. A complete F-12 or 14 with no lift mechanism that "may or may not be" stuck would fetch bewteen $250-$500 around here. I paid $400 for mine (a 1934) and it was very stuck. A neighbor of mine got a 36', unstuck, for $350. Take a look at what the tractor needs and compare that with prices for replacements. If you'd like an excel spreadsheet of all the costs associated with my 34' F-12, send me an email address and I'll send it to you. Keep in mind that my rebuild was a ground-up job and I left no bolt unturned. You may just wish to get yours running and figure a cost range from there. Good luck either way! Zak

I feel that the value of old tractors depends on where you are located. A non running f-12 in the midwest looks to be selling for $25-100. Here in the northeast $500 would be my guess for a machine that is complete. There is a lot of f-12's out there, parts are not impossible to find. Which is why I feel they are a good tractor for a collector to get started with. I own a 1934 F-12 and like the tractors a lot.

The Ih buyers guide lists the f-12 as ( two stars) on a five star scale for collecibility. They indicate that the f- 12 "is a good investment but it is too new or were produced in such numbers that they have not yet developed an appreciation in history"

I would venture a guess that whom ever wrote that book does not get out into the real world very often. Unless of course the author looks at collecting tractors as a financial investment which will increase in value over a period of time. If that is the case, then none of us have collectible tractors, even though we continue to collect them. Beauty, and collectibility, continue to be in the eye of the beholder.
