My 806 has lost all steering functions. Steering wheel turns freely, but front wheels will not turn even when lifted off the ground with no weight on them. All other hydrolics work normal. This happened while tractor was setting in shed. Any help will be appreciated.

Fist thing to do is replace the hdy filter and look at the color of the hdy.fluid , if it is milky then change it and refill with new. What is the weather conditions there? Like one said run the tractor at around 2000 RPM and what he did not tell ya was to keep turning the steering wheel to the right as this will help BLEED any traped air from the MCV system . There could be a pice of dirt or metal stuck in the steering orfice or a stuck flow control valve. or you could have sheared the key or the splines on the pressure plate that drive the pumps and pto just went south. If you have hitch pressure and pto then you can rule out the wore out splines . And like one said pull the dipstick out and place a blowgun with a rag wrapped around it in the fill tube and blow air in with the tractor running at 3/4 throttel , BUT WHEN YOU GO TO LET THE AIR PRESSURE OFF BE CAREFULL AS IF THERE IS TOMUCH PRESSURE AND YOU PULL IT OFF IT WILL SHOOT HDY > OIL TO THE ROOF past experance it dripped hytran for the shop ceiling for two weeks .

Your power steering pump may have lost it's prime. Do you have a TA, and does it work? The same pump supplies both. It's located on LH side of tractor, just behind clutch housing, inboard of the MCV.

Is the rear end full of oil? I just went through this with a 706. Actually removed the pump, it looked too good to replace, so I reassembled it with a little petroleum jelly on the gears, then poured some oil in it just before installing on the tractor. Pump worked fine, and pressures checked out. It has been working since last spring. The tractor has not been used much, but has been run occasionally, and continues to build pressurwith no problems.

Maybe someone will post with a method to prime the pump without removing it, or perhaps I should have just replaced my pump.

As was said, sounds as if it has lost prime. Start tractor and run at fast idle, blow air in fill tube and it might catch the oil. There is a 5/8 plug on back side of MCV that has a orffice inside mcv that can be taken out and bleed system that way. Hope this helps
