jeeper: Here are a list of the fluids an amounts.

Cooling system 15 qt., Fuel tank 11 gal., Crankcase 5 qt., Transmission with pto 5 qts. gear oil, Steering box 1 qt. gear oil, Air cleaner cup 7/8 pt. motor oil, Touch controll hydraulics unit dry when new 8-1/4 pt. refill system 6-3/4 pt. hy tran. Rear axle drive housings (each) 3 pt. gear oil.

One of the first items you should do is refill fan hub with oil. there is a screw on side of fan hub. Turn fan so screw is pointing to horizontal position. Remove screw and fill with motor oil to level of screw. Then turn fan so fill hole is on bottom, this drains off excess oil. Replace screw.

On the side of your distributor you will see two plugs with blade screw heads. These are the size for large grease zerks. Some people install zerks. It is not generally recomended. An IH technician once told me best to get a tube of white automotive grease, remove the plugs and squeeze a small amount in holes, and only do this once per year. Too much grease in there and it will force through to distributor or governor.

Do those two items before you use a tractor that has been setting for 10 years. Good luck and if you have any questions, just ask.

When you fill the fan hub on an A or B you fill it with the screw on the left side in the horizontal position. You want to have the hub half full of oil.I got this from the operators manual.

Hugh You said to turn it to the bottom and drain off the excess. You want it to remain half full of oil.

Will: And that is precisely what the Farnall 130 manual says to do. Can't be a misprint, on both pages 39 and again on 48, it describes filling with oil with hole at left horizontal. then turn fan so hole is at bottom to drain off excess oil, then replace the screw. The IT service manual covering 100 and 130 describe it much the same.

I must admit I have always filled them at horizontal and put the screw back. I just discovered recently I have been wrong all these years. Can't be a major mistake, my SuperA and 130 fans are both still going. I did take the 130 fan apart once and cleaned it up, other than that they have never been touched.

Hugh, I checked the operators manual for a B farmall and it says to fill it in the horizontal position and put the screw back in. I checked the operator's manuals on my 140 and on my C and it says to turn it to the bottom and drain off the excess as you said. You are correct. I grew up with a B and filled it half full for years so that was my first thought. Apparantly they changhed their directions somewhere along the way. Where are you located? I am fairly new to the forum and enjoy it a lot. Thank you for replying.

Jeeper: I always use 90. On motor oil I have been great believer in the 15W - 40 for use in diesels. I use this in everything car, pickup, 4 cycle lawn mower, gas tractors and diesel tractors. My lawn mower is 28 years old and always mowed a 1/4 acre. Now the only thing original is the Tecumseh engine. My Buick Lesabre has close to 300,000 miles, still doesn't use but very little oil. I don't think my 51 year old Super A has ever had an engine job. I have had the head off and replaced a head gasket about 10 years ago. Now I don't think this Super A has ever seen a lot of hard use. Been a toy most of it's life.
