Is there a special spark plug socket needed to remove the plugs. A regular 7/8 deep socket will not fit in the plug cavity. The socket outside diameter is too large to engage the spark plug; it hits the engine block before it can reach the plug. Appreciate the help. thanks

Thank you for asking that question. I had the same issue on my 460.

A Craftsman 3/8 drive 7/8" deepwell has a thinner wall and will fit where a regular 1/2 drive deepwell will not.

My local Sears did not stock the 3/8 drive 7/8" deepwell - it's beyond the range of their "standard" set. Had order it thru the catalog...

I think it is a 7/8, and I use a thinwall Craftsman Socket but that is on a Super A

If this tractor uses 16MM spark plugs, 7/8" would be the correct size. I've had this problem with an IH "A". Take a cheap socket and grind the OD down a little. Use a belt sander for a smoother job.

Hi R,

Try just a regular 3/8" drive, 13/16" thinwall deep like a Craftsman. Should get it.
