bought a after market exhaust manifold for my
41 h . the carb. top flange is smaller than
the manifold flange. you can put the two bolts
in to bolt it up ,but the fit up does not look
right. is this normal or did i get a super h manifold. it runs but badly.

the replacement manifolds are like that. they are made to fit h thru 350 tractors. i have one on a straight h and it works fine. if you want one that"looks right" you will have to find a used h manifold.

Pete: We have found problems before in some of the manifolds the yard sells. Usually the bolt holes are not in the proper alignment requiring some extra drilling. As the red stated, make sure your passage ways are the same size. If so then I would leave well enough alone. It's sort of a catch-22 where we love the price of aftermarket parts but we sacrifice the uniformity/quality(sometimes). Also most after market items come from overseas and I believe you have a problem with dollar-a-day workers trying to take standard size parts with metric equipment.

Pete check the diameter of the top of the carburetor opening and the diamater of the maifold opening. If the manifold opening is roughly 1/4" larger in diameter, you have the Super H manifold.
