Paul: The T.A. PPA(pressure plate assemblies) I have put in are already pressed together and held with just a boltX3. My thoughts are you should be able to put the PPA in some sort of press with a plate across the release bearing fingers, press together and insert bolts(make sure you can insert bolts while PPA is still in the press).

Rebuilder. my last post was for removal of ta assembly. Can I get it out without the assembly under compression? Also when removing seasonal disconnect plate I discovered that some butcher welded the leaver between the 2 bolt holes he or she also welded the ipto seasonal clutch hub together found this mess when removing middle section Hope thats all the surprises.Paul

Paul: Sorry forgot about your pto problem. If you don't have much luck finding a disconnect assembly perhaps the cheaper way to go would be to remove the disconnect and makeing the pto live all the time. You would have to change the two shafts though and maybe somme bearings. I'll look into it farther and let you know.

Rebuilder. The ipto worked well and quiet before split, just wondering why someone would weld the leaver in place when the clutch hubs were welded tight.Do you think it would be worth repairing properly will inspect ipto shaft and bearings in ta case closely my understanding is that this is a promlem spot on these tractors.Paul.

Paul: If it was working well & upon insection you feel it will do the work you want to do with it then yes, leave well enough alone. As far as trouble spots go I have not been aware of any in that area. My guess is that either operators don't get the bolt in tight enough or maybe it falls out which would cause the coupler halves to bang into each other. Perhaps others on the forum can answer that better since I only get to see things after the tractor is junk.

Paul: If nothing is bent too much out of shape then yes the PPA should come out without being compressed,I.E. with the flywheel bolts removed. It can be tricky but if you wiggle it just right and use the proper words it WILL come out. I just had a Thought though, If the rebuilt PPA's have three bolts to keep them compressed for assembly then perhaps you can put in the bolts BEFORE you romeve the 6 bolts holding the PPA and flywheel together. That is if the PPA you have is epuipped with the needed holes. just a thought. It would make it easier to get out but may be hard to get the bolts in, so you may be just as well to remove as I mentioned before. I apologise but I cannot picture this well without it being right in front of me.
