Have a 560 Diesel, work's great in all gear's, but, won't go into 5th. Is that a big fix? Other wise run's and work's great.

Hey make sure the tractor is in neutral with the brake set and then take the 3 bolts out that hold the shifter in place and take a long screwdriver or punch (be careful do not drop). Carefully take and shove the very left hand shifter slide on the top of the transmission foreward. Then get on tractor and see if it will move. If it will your shifter end is needing built up. I had to do this to mine and it was quite easy and 5th was the one hard to get into gear. GOOD LUCK & MERRY CHRISTMAS

Marc, I would be willing to bet the teeth on 5th gear is rounded off. If that is the case you would have to split the tractor and replace the gear. It is a pretty big job but worth doing. Brian

Brian it may be just a shift fork problem also. Does the shift lever go into the 5th position?
Does it grind at all if you try to shift it to 5th with the clutch partially in?? Dont know abt the 560 but on my 350 you can remove the cover where the belt pulley should mount and look at the 4th-5th gear sliders. John
