8043D or 8043DD are the high compression casting numbers. The DD is off of the later model tractors. From 52-57. It has a little different chamber in the head. I belive the 6184??? is the distillant head,, but he 8043 was used on some distillant engines too. Hope this helps

It is mostly the casting numer you look at. IH made 4 different heads for the H-350. A distillant,, which was the low compression head,, then there is a gas/distillant,, had a bit smaller chamber could be run on gas or distillant,, then the gas head,, gasoline only, usually it was the 8043D before 1952,, then after 52 they were 8043,, then there is the ever popular, always expencive,, LP head, The best bolt on cyl head you can find for boosting HP. The 8043 can match the LP head in power out put if it is milled about .100. Use a set of calipers and measure how deep the chamber is from the head surface to the deepest point. if it is over 1.5 inches deep,, you have the low compression head. The casing number is located under the valve cover. Chad
