Hey, I was looking at my carb today to see figure out where the leak the guy Igot it from said it had, was. Turns out it is a leaky sediment bowl like I thought it was. But now im interested in what carb I have. Was the Zenith the good one? Why are some Zenith and some not?

Ill describe it. As it is, mounted to the intake.

Needle valve on front facing part, on lower portion, facing forward. Turncock in back, facing block. Shaft facing outward at you.? Its covered in gunk so I dont have any numbers off of it yet. Ill clean it tommorow.

People seem to have more trouble with the Carter, but that's probably due to lack of maintenance. Mine has a Zenith. There are two Zenith models and one Carter for the C, more models than that for the A,SA,and B. You have to be a carburator expert to tell the difference from the outside as the designs of all three models is about the same. There were also gasoline and kerosene/distillate versions of all three. Your turncock description indicates you have a kero/dist version as the gasoline version did not have an adjustable main jet.

Where would the Kero/dist Fuel tank be? I called it a turncock, its a T Shaped thing, like on the sediment bowl, but not like the needle in front.

If everything is original, there will be a hole in the left rear of your hood for the filler neck for the gasoline starter tank (distillate/kerosene tractors start on gas then switch to distillate/kerosene when warm). I have seen distillate carbs on original tractors without the distillate tank. The main jet adustment on a distillate carb is as you have described. The needle in front is the idle mixture.

Well, it's not a Carter. The Carter has no petcock on the rear. Its only adjustment is the idle mixture adjustment screw on the front top.

All C carbs for kerosene/distillate had an adjustable main jet.
