Just bought a 340 and have some questions. Does the transmission and the hydraulics use the same fluid? Where do you add and check the fluid levels for the hydraulics and lift? Also the pto runs all the time, where can I start on adjustments and such. Thanks, I'm gonna get a manuel hopefully next week.

don't know about the 340 but my 460 uses the same hy-trans for both, fill plug is to the left of the shifter and full level is a plug on the right side ,also my pto turns all the time too, but if it's hooked up to something it doesn't,and i know lots of em that do the same thing.i just don't worry about it.

Yes the 340 is the same as Ken described, Trans and hyd are together. Fill opening is flat cap that a 3/4 drive tool fits just to the left of the of the gear shift. The real tricky part of the system for most new owners is the fill level. You check that using a tiny plug about halfway up the trans. case, hidden behind the brake pedals. It's a 1/4 in cap screw you remove when filling, when the oil runs out of the little screw opening its full.

Yup, thats where it's at on my 340 row crop. Left side of trans housing behind clutch peddle.
