Hi, I got a M tractor not running. So I can't try it to find out what first gear is in it. Can somebody tell me what the gear could look like? Regular 1st and slow first? I want a slow first in this tractor. I have the cover off the rearend. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Don

Like Dale says the gear is cut into the counter shaft if you have the extra low gear. The reason is, the gear is too small to make one to go on the shaft and so they cut it directly into the shaft. Due to this, the 2nd gear on the counter shaft is separate. On the regular gears, the 1st and second gear on the counter shaft are made together as a double gear. Lot's of stuff to change to put that low low gear in there, and I think nearly impossible to find the parts. I would say if you found an M that had that it would double it's value.

Hi! Thanks for reply. What do I need to change to put first low in? I think I know where to get the parts. How many gears do I need to change? Thanks, Don

If you have the optional low first gear the bottom shaft in the transmission will have gear teeth cut right in the shaft instead of having a gear on the shaft.
