A couple of months ago I posted about a cable I have sticking out of the clutch housing. I broke the tractor down over the weekned to start an engine overhaul, and traced the cable back into the transmission. So what does it do? Is this for a 9 speed trans? (or as some call it, high/low range)? What ever it is, it has a lever in the tranny that seems to work. How do you use this thing? Thanks, Fred

Another company, Heisler made a similar unit that doubled the speeds in gears 1 thru 4. My dad looked at both MW and Heisler, in early "50s and opted for Heisler due to a mechanical rod linkage instead of the cable. He had it installed in a 1944 H

This made a great tractor for the roads, and pulling loads. Tractor is still working, and never has had transmission cover lifted since.

I have an MD that has a cable coming out of the clutch housing that I had never messed with since I bought the tractor. The original owners son came by a few days back and told me he remembered it was to shift the tractor into another range of gears (like a two speed axle). Darned if it didn't give a second range in all but 5th. Sounds like you've got the same thing. WNM
