Just bought an (h) and it pops out of 4th gear almost immediatly after the clutch is released. Is splitting the tractor needed to get at the internal transmission parts ? Any Ideas on what this could be ?
Thanks,
Jonathan Mirgon

Odd, usually it's 5th they jump out of ;-)
It could well be the shifter forks, as Chad said. If so, all you'll need to do to get at them is take off the seat and deck from the trans/rear end. If when you get in you find gear problems you'll have to drop the liftall to get the drive shaft loose. Either way, you can replace anything from the clutch back without splitting the tractor. Hope it's something easy. Wm

I had an H that popped out of 4th too.. The transmission and final drive plate wiil have to be removed. I found that the shifter fork was bent, and the ball and spring needed to be replaced. Check the gear to shaft plat,, make sure the gear is relitively tight on the shaft. If I t sloppy, the gear will need to be replaced,, check the fork first, Just my opinion. Hope this helps some.
