I know that McCormick invented the reaper in about 1830, but why is his name on some international/farmall tractors.

Also, where did the Deering name fit into this puzzle?

Terry: Take Jim's advise and buy the book, the whole story is in there. IH was formed in the early 1900s by the McCormick family and William Deering and others. However the McCormicks and the Deerings were the big guns and big guns have a way of being recognized.

Find the book [150 Years of International Harvester] sould be easy to find at Steam and Old tractor shows from venders it is very interesting reading. A big book about 8x12 and red in color.
