any tips on pressure washing for degreasing a tractor?? Any parts to steer clear of when pressure washing? I was wondering if it would mess up any gaskets in between parts from all the pressure of the water? How would you cover up the distributor to keep from getting wet? If any of you guys could give me some tips on this I would greatly appreciate it. I'd like to get it clean asap so I can start sanding for paint prep.. Thanks again guys for your help.

Found a degreaser/cleaner made by ZEP at Home Depot. There are two different ones made by ZEP that they carry, Orange & Purple. It just so happened that it was at the opening of a new Home Depot and the rep from ZEP was there. He told me the Purple one (thats the name not just the color) should be kept off of Alum. and to be careful because it was really an industrial degreaser. He actually recomended the Orange one because it wasn't as strong, and wouldn't damage Alum..

Ofcourse I went right for the Purple one and it really does a job on grease. You do not want to use it on any painted surface that you are not going to repaint. It takes the shine right off the paint and does it ever get rid of the grease. As far as the Alum. goes he said it could pit it. I have gotten it on mags before and didn't really see any damage.

Also said if I didn't like it they (Home Depot) would refund my money. How can you beat that?????

It works so good that I am afraid that Home Depot will probably quit carrying it. It seems like that happens just when I find a product that I really like.

Give it a try, it won't cost you a dime if you don't like it.

GOOD LUCK

I wouldn't give any of the electrical stuff a steady diet of high pressure water, you can take a zip-loc bag, mark and remove the plug wires from the plugs and stuff them up inside the bag and bring the bag down over the distributor them use a rubber band or a nylon zip tie to seal it as best you can around the body of the distributor, I use B-52 Brown Bomber for a general degreaser, but the more caked on stuff will probably take some over cleaner to get off.

Hi, just pressure washed my h at the car wash- took a pudde kinfe and cleaned heavy soiled areas before going. Hit very pto, wheel bearing and place i could, changed transmison oil and found no water. Extreme care needs taken for electric components, suggest you remove generator or alt. Mine started and drove it home. HAVE FUN
