I am going to see an "A" this weekend. What's a decent price for one in working condition? (This one is parked inside but hasn't been run in a year) I plan to get it started before I make any offer on it. Thanks for any input.

As has been noted, the biggest factor seems to be not condition, but location. If you're in horse country, small farm country, or even an area with large estates, these tractors bring a premium, as they're a good mowing or cultivating tractor. I've seen them go for anything from scrap value (I bought my '45 for $125 from a junkyard, complete except for grill, not stuck but but VERY rough) to $4000 or more for a nicely restored one with a mower or other implements. Anything in the $500-1500 range is probably fair for this one as you describe it. If I were you, I'd make an offer BEFORE you get it running, as one that runs is worth considerably more than a fixer-upper. Provided it's not stuck, not cracked, and you don't hear any big clunks when you turn it over, anyone with reasonable mechanical skills can usually get one of these old girls up and running without too much fuss.

I bought two a's in PA, one was complete, and the other was parts, I paid 600.00 for the pair, neither of them were in running condition.

So much depends upon where you are located and the condishion of the tractor. Tires are expencive if you have to replace them all, paint is cheap. I bought one 2 years ago that needed seals and paint to bring it up to a really good working tractor that gets used alot for $1100, I did more than I needed to to bring it up to what I wanted and spent about another $500 in parts and a winter's worth of fun working on it reringing the engine and replacing the bearings, breaks and clutch but I have a like new machine for one heck of a lot less than what a new one would cost!

I traded about $400 worth of livestock for my 1946 A here in Washington State, its pretty rough but it is a runner and most of the pieces are there.
