I have this SC that is a good worker, the thing is it will start up just fine after it has been sitting, but after you shut down for an hour or two , it will crank but not start,I'll adjust the timing and it starts up runs fine , and if you shut it down it does the same thing,I don't have a timing light for the 8 volt on the 6 volt system. I tired timing by ear and it's sounds like it is supposed to but it's back to the same thing , after an hour and adjust the disturiditor to start.I'm stumped, like the stumps that I'm pulling

Forget your ear!!
Set the timing so it will spark @ top dead center.
Get your owners or service manual to help if needed.
Take the coil and condenser to a qualified ignition shop and have them tested. the points may need replacing, too.
Or just buy new ones and try that way.
As an old instructor of all things mechanical, I personally like to find out why something doesn't work and then fix it right the 1st time.

Same thing happened to me on a SC it was the coil wire. Condensers do funny things also.

Dave is probably right. Coils are cheap so replace it and see if the problem goes away.
