If the battery cables are getting hot (very hot) doesn't that mean the starter is bad? Even if it is turning over?

Scott - Could be the starter going bad. But if the starter spins the engine OK it means the battery cables are too small.

Could also mean a bad connection, high resistance circuit for some reason.
