Ok, I think I have determined the sloppyness in my transmission. I belive it to be the shift lever. How do I go about knowing what it looked like when it was knew to build the end back up. Or is it just trial and error to make it fit? I'm hopeing that I can fix it by doing this. Also the bearings of the waterpump is out, is it a very simple task to change those out?

Thanks Derek

There is a picture of the shifter lever posted by Nebraska Cowman on 10/13/2006. Knew I had seen it and searched under "shifter lever". Post was #42 "re. shiftless H". or something along that line.

It is a pretty straightforward job to remove and replace the water pump bearings. You do have to remove the water pump though, it makes it a lot eaiser to rebuild. You will have to remove the fan before you can remove the pump. You will have to replace the two seals in the pump too, as they have to be removed before the bearings can be removed. I would check with NAPA for the bearings and seals. When I rebuilt the water pump on one of my H's I checked with NAPA, bearings were $16 each and seals $5 each.

You knew more than you thought. It is mostly a trial and error thing. I suspect your best bet for the water pump is a new or rebuilt one from IH dealer.
