Thanks for the help with hydraulics and the Saginaw hitch. Arrives tomorrow. I'm reading these narrow front ends were known for having loose steering. Mine isn't too bad but it is there. Anyone know what is involved with tightening it up to take the play out?

check the worm and sector gear in the top of the upper bolster for excessive play. if its a later m it may have the sector in a complete circle vs the 3/4 circle gear for the older ones. you can remove the gear, turn it 180 and get some fresh teeth. if the bolster bushings are worn, carter and gruenwald has the whole rebuild kit for about 150.00

Well I found out, after looking in the archives, many of you have replaced the upper bolster bearing and had luck. The worm gear also appears to sometimes be a problem. I'll check it out. There's no forward or backward movement in the steering wheel which is a good thing I guess.

Some play is normal in a M. However, changing the bearing(bushing) under the the sector gear wuill help. I had a devil of a time getting the gear off but the are several ways it can be accomplished. The is a tool someplace in the archives that can be used.
