I understand how you feel Old. I lost my mother last month. It is very hard and we all must face it at some point. Never easy though. My prayers are with you and your family.

Old, I have never had any dealing with you directly, however I have read much of what you have written to others, and you are always willing to help. You're the real deal. The least I can do is say a prayer for and your family. God bless you.

Dej(Jed) has it right, you are never quite ready, and there"s no preparatory training. But our sympathies are with you, and surely you have lots of good memories to help at this time. Best Wishes.

I lost my dad at age 77 in 99'. Hard to take but it doesn't take long to realize that the world doesn't even slow down for it. Hang in there Old and my prayers are with you.

Oh yes it is hard when your loose your father. The one you depended on for everything is taken and that safety net is gone.

Hard row to hoe but guess we all have to do it at some time.

Wish you well.

You have my sympathy also. They diagnosed my Dad with cancer last Aug. and he today is on morphine with only hrs. to go. I think I am prepared, but can you ever really be.

dej(jed), sorry to hear your dad may have "only hours to go." I was with my dad on Tuesday, March 13 for most of the last 14 hours he was alive, leaving only for a short break/meals. I was "phoned back" and he left this life in peace with me holding/patting his hand while talking to him as the sense of hearing is the last to go. I closed his eyes and it was one of the most wonderful experiences of my life. At 77, my dad was to old for any organ/tissue donations. My late girlfriend, a young 42, was a donor. Since then, I have that designated on my drivers license and the funeral home has my wishes for when I depart. May you and fellow ytmag board member old find peace.
