has any one bought a new radiator for a super a without a water pump. I see the ones on this site say for use with waterpump. at least that is the way i read it. i do not have a water pump and wonder if it would cool without one.

I bought a new radiator for a regular A without a water pump from this (YT) place. I never used it because I parted out the tractor due to too many thinjs wrong with it. Email me if you are interested. It should work if your Super A is a 113 , not a 123.

banjo,

I bought one last summer from OEM Tractor parts. They didnt have it listed for radiators with or without pumps and they sent me the wrong one to begin with. I called them and they sent the right one and it was even less expensive.

If you order it from them just make sure you tell them its for a Super A without the water pump. I even gave them the serial number off mine and they made sure it would work.

It fit perfect!

You may need the pads that fit under it. I had to add a washer too just to get it perfect cause the new pads arent as thick as the old ones.

I'll check them out also. I made some pads for my other super a out of a/c compressor pads. Just cut them to the desired thickness.

Henry, i'm not sure what the cubic in is on this tractor is. was overhauled 20 years ago acording to PO, not sure what is inside.

If it is now or was operating without a water pump check the Tractor Parts on the left. of this forum. I used a new radiator from them on my M and am well satisfied.

according to the description it is for tractors with water pump. really would rather not have to add more parts where they are not needed

Banjo,

YT lists two radiators. Up to serial number 355669 they used a non-pressurized radiator, YT part #58124DBX. Serial number 353348 started in 1954 so most Super A's would be non-pressurized, only they last year of production would any have been pressurized.

YT also lists the pressurized Radiator #356356R94.

The radiator that Henry has for his "A" should should also work in your Super A. Least they list the same radiator at YT for both.

The cap you have is for a pressurized radiator. Do you think it was a replacement?

It could of been a replacement when it was overhauled 20 years ago. I just assumed it was the correct one for this year midel.

banjo: I will respond as I haven't seen tractorsam around in awhile. He installed one of these rads the were for use with water pump. In the end he had to add a pump. This is about the 4th time I've heard this, just wondering if the thermosyphon type radiator is no longer available. Could be, pump is the only way to go.

I don't know about now, but I bought one for my C in 2002, I believe. I do not remember the name of the company, but they sell a LOT of radiators--found it through an internet search. Probably available from Carter and Grunewald or Steel Wheel Ranch, and many others. For whatever reason, I don't pay much attention to the products on this site, would much rather do business with people such as Mike at Steel Wheel Ranch or C&G.

Another question, this rad uses the cap with lever but does not have a pump.1952 super a

this tractor is pretty original and would like to keep it that way, as it would make a pretty nice show tractor with a quality restore.

So i assume the other radiator listed is like the one on my 48 with the dome nonpressure cap.

So which rad should i go with since i do not plan on using a pump?
