I just bought quite a tidy diesel 434. Steering box felt a bit loose and rough, but presumed it would keep working. Bearings then collapsed in the steering box, and it is now unusable. I have to overhaul the box and wondered if anyone could help with a scanned page out of the parts book or an exploded view of the steering box. Is non power steer, so just a plain box, probably not much different to the earlier 414 etc etc. I have hardly used this tractor and my wife is looking sideways at me!!

God Bless,
Rex

Hi Rex Steering box bearing wear is quite common on the 434 usually the steering colum top plastic bush wears and lets water into the box. All the parts are available from John Sambrook at Repair and Maintenance Services Ltd at Dudley here in the UK. His phone number is 01384350136 and he ships parts to Austrailia. Mention my name when you ring as he has supplied me with a lot of IH parts. Regards Michael Hart.

Rex, if you go to CaseIH.com and search for parts, and punch in 434, you can get a blowup of every part. If for some reason its not in the australian version go to north america. I know that one has it. IF all else fails look up 424 I think its the same system. A lot of people try to switch them over to power steering as the manual steering was really hard on the arms.
