All help will be appreciated. A friend of mine has one that the hydraulics stopped working on after it was parked for the last winter. When she started the tractor up the front bucket lifted 6 inches and then nothing else would move. Ive been an auto mech most of my life but dont know squat about tractor hydraulics. I have a manual but learned of you guys from another friend. I normally wouldnt even mess with a tractor but shes a really nice lady left widowed with 3 young children at 43 by a terrible tragedy and Id like to help her

Hay guys Im back. Sorry it took me so long but I fell ill suddenly and just got over there this evening and looked it over a bit to see what tools I might need. I also started her up and tried all the hydraulics. Nothing works. I checked the fluid and it was overfull and upon further prying learned from her that the neighbor changed the fluid when it first quit to try to see if the fluid was the problem. I did notice that when I tried the hydraulics to the front loader the lines vibrated slightly. I have a couple questions. First and most important is there anything simpler I should look at first like what drives the pump is it a belt or something and also when removing the case cover what do you hook to. Im planning to use a come along but also have an engine pulling chain. Im sorry again but a speedy answer would be great cuz Im supposed to go work on it in the morning

Thanks guys. When I talked to her she said her older brother seemed to think that it was the filter too but after studying the manual couldnt figure out where the filter was. I confess thats why I never looked at the manual before talking to you guys who know tractors as Im a busy guy and hoped I could avoid a couple hours of reading with no results, heck I put in 11 hours today on sunday. Bottom line admittedly shes a little vague being a lady but shes not stupid either and she says she started the tractor and needed to lift the front bucket and rear blade before pulling the tractor out and started lifting the front bucket and after only a couple inches it stopped and then she tried to lift the rear blade and it wouldnt budge so she put the bucket down and let it sit. I have tomorrow off as its supposed to be a rain day and Im hoping to get over there and check it out so for now Im going to follow r4etired. As I understand it under the seat and a 3 bolt access flange. I hope I can figure it out after that. If anyone else has more correct or detailed info please chime in please before tomorrow. On the other side of this if anyone could use some auto help my specialty is brakes and I have a couple honda cb750 choppers which I know quite a bit about or if your in my area I have almost every tool known to man. I wont lend any of my tools but Ill come over with them and help you do the job. Thank you guys very much

Joe, getting to the filter is not as easy as it sounds. The seat assy. & hyd. hard lines to pump will need to be removed. If it has power steering, the return line on left side has to be taken off and if tractor has a factory toolbox on the rear it has to go too. The top of reservoir has to come off, it's held by 14 bolts of varying lengths. It's also somewhat easier if you remove the hyd. valves, although not everyone does. You will at least have to remove the hyd. lines to rear cyl. and loader cyls. Cover is heavy and will take two people or a hoist to remove. Filter is mounted in reservoir top. Be extremely careful while removing the top as any side to side movement can cause damage to filter and they cost between 60 - 70 dollars.

I would check the hydraulc filter, I have seen them collapse and allow no oil flow, It should be located in the reservoir under the seat, if I remember correctly three small bolts in a triangle hold the access cover on.
