Today I went and looked at a '39 Farmall H, serial #4976. It's not running, but it's all there, except for the belt pulley and magneto. I couldn't find any cracks or repairs to the block, and the sheet metal is pretty decent with all of the tires decent except for one of the fronts. It looks to be all original including the seat and light bar. He only wants $375 and said he'll listen to offers. I already have 3 B's, 1 C, and an H, but this one seems pretty cheap to me. What do you think?

YES... SNATCH IT UP RIGHT AWAY. That's real cheap! I watch a est off a 39 H on eBay sold for $460.00 plus it had $45.00 shipping! Don't ask for it cheaper, its cheap enough. I'd say don't part it out, not many 39's around anymore. It don't matter how many tractors you have either, we have 23 and somebody who buys from my Dad on eBay has over 700 tractors.

39 Seats have been selling on EBay for between $300 to $400. Grab as fast as you can. If you strip down for parts, and I hope you would not do that, give me a call.

Really, when you stop and think of it,what can you buy and have as much fun with for 4 or 5OO DOLLARS today? When it comes to these old tractors, thats really no kind of money.

Couldn't buy a decent used 4-wheeler for that.

I agree with you - but I already have 15 tractors.

Pictures would help, but I'd say go for it. And start at scrap metal price, as people have told me, in case you can't get it running. $300 should be fair.

Several yrs ago I went to look at an old M and when I saw that slot-top I knew the M was going home with me. #1094 got it for $400. The correct seat for the'39's is pretty expensive now, if you can find a good one. Tom

From the photos I've seen in books and manuals, it has the original seat, and it's in good condition.

Mine does not have the original seat but patience paid off because I bought the right seat assembly minus the seat pan at an auction then found the correct pan in the photo adds now for less than $100 I have a seat worth at least $300. Did I say I don't like spending money needlessly?. Tom

I don't think so. They're original and have more cracks and wrinkles than Joan Rivers.

Sounds fair enough; you're taking a risk there is something major wrong with it; he's taking a risk he could get more for it later. I suggest starting at $300 and go from there.

I'd go for it. I'd love to find a similar deal here in LA but it aint happen'in. Heck if you end up not getting it then let me know and depending on distance I'd be up for picking it up. I'm actually in need of a larger tractor than my 100 and was looking for an M.
