706. Remotes on Steering?

I saw a 706 yesterday that had hydraulic remotes that appeared to be plumbed into the steering system and mounted on the steering pedestal. DId I see wrong or is ther e some reasonn for that?

Picked up a nice IH 370 disc!

Most older IHs had remotes under the fuel tank here in the midwest.

They were controled with the levers the same as a rear remote.

They were put there to hook up a front mounted cultivator. This way the hoses could be shorter and you didn't trip on them when getting on and off the tractor.
