When I broke down the oil pump that came off this engine, I found a full tooth broken off the idler gear and 1/2 tooth broken off the drive gear. Having rejected that unit, I went through 2 more units until I got myself satisfied that the bearings were not worn out, turned freely and had all its teeth.

Having said that, I have thoroughly cleaned this unit up and ready to put it back together. MY QUESTION IS:

Is there anything inparticular that I should be paying attention to when I assemble this unit. I don't want to be taking this pan off again if there is something I can do ahead of time.

When you have that oil pump reassembled you need to set it in a container of new engine oil and prime the pump. Spin the drive gear until oil is being discharged and then install it on the engine. Hal

The bottom plate on my H pump was slightly worn from the gears, I took it to a machine shop and had it surfaced.
