Just painted my 51 H with ppg acrylic enamel. This is not cheap. 2qts of paint, 1 gal reducer, 2 cans of hardner cost $225.00. Plus primer, sealer, sand paper and buffing pads and compond. I'm getting close to $400. But, the paint looks great. I had planned on using the tractor but now, not sure I want to. Many hours of prep work.

Looks great Biggy! Can't wait for more progress pics. Do you plan on spraying a clear coat?

As far as prep, I'm learning that a great paint job is 90% proper, well done prep work, 10% thin paint spray. Looks like you are doing well along those lines!

I used Factory paint from the dealer, I used a wet look harder for acrylic enamel. It is from mar-hyde, No 2612. and a good acrylic reducer. I also use John Deere yellow buff primer. It took a long time to get the prep job done. This tractor was so clean you could have eat off it. Now that I have learned to post pictures, I will keep you guys informed.

Looks GOOD!!

That is definitely RED!! Needs some odds and ends to break up the massive amount of red. I'd like to paint mine, but I dont have the patience for proper prearation. It would be a total PITA, heh.

Keep us posted and of course pot some pics when your done!

Been awhile since I painted one, seems like 1 gal. paint and about 3 qts thinner. Most guys make the mistake and put way more than nessary..... .the tractor looks like candy, paint thick.....

Looks real nice, better than factory I bet. Who made your paint, what type, and are you using a hardener in it?
