I check the fluid level in the rear end of my M to day and it was milky looking. I just changed it last year and it doesn't sit outside in the weather too often. Can I run it like it is for this year or do I need to change it right away?

Let it sit over nite and pull the drain plug.
Let any free water run out. Retighten the plug and use it. Gear oil is designed to emulsify water and carry it in solution. If you are sure it doesn't have excess water use it. You will be just fine.

I would bet if you checked the rear end of most M'in the country they would have water in them,Some water comes in around the shifter some is condensation. I would loosen the plug a couple of times a year after it has set for a while and drain out the water.

While you probably should change it, I can tell you Im guilty of running my working M with it milky looking for a few hours.
