What Year/Model is this engine ?

I am trying to determine what year/model an engine is. The tractor is a 1947 A, but appears to have a newer engine. The engine has a block-off plate below the mag, usually where the hydraulics would be. It also has c123 cast into the block. I was thinking it was a super A or Super C motor, but it has a dipstick where the Super C's I've seen do not. The block has raised integral numbers 366204 R1. I'm thinking it may be from a 100 or 200. The tractors previous owner had it since 1961, so I know the motor is no newer than 1961. Anybody have any a way to know what year/model its from ? thanks

Thanks for the help.
Since the flat spot below the #1 plug has no markings, and I have no date codes below the mag (or anywhere else on the block), I guess it must be from a 130.
The only other item I've found that differs from my 1940 C113 is that the new engine has a threaded plug in the front of the head next to the casting that accepts the upper radiator hose (generator side). Would this have been used with a water pump ? My engine does not have a water pump and still uses a mag. I assume the mag is interchangeable with a distributor since the 130 would have had a distributor I believe ....?

CSR: You can interchange distributor with a mag all the way to 1958 engines. There is section in my 130 operator's manual for care and adjustment of a mag. I've never seen a mag on a 130, but it must have been an available option.

You've lost me on those coolant ports, either you didn't describe it in enough detail or my head is not functioning yet this morning. Any C-113 or C-123 blocks I've run across, could be changed from thermosyphon to water pump, or vice versa. If you see something that prevents this, kindly come back, I'm always keen to learn.

The 366204 block would have been from a 130/230 tractor (introduced 1956), or a factory replacement block for the A/B/C up to the 130/230 tractors for as long as they made the blocks. That seems to be the last compatible iteration since the 140/240 block was not the same. I have a parts book from the mid 60's that still shows 366204 as the replacement block for a Super C.

The 130/230 did not use the FCM or FAAM prefixes any more, the C123 was the prefix on the engine serial number. It is not off an industrial block as that was a different casting number and usually show at least 2 major differences; the missing bellhousing bolt at the starter and the boss for a mechanical fuel pump. The date code that Gene suggested might help determine if it's a factory replacement or a swap from a 130/230 (if out of the manufacturing range of that tractor)?

CSR: The block part number 366204 R1 indicates it came from a Farmall 130. Could be 230, I'm not sure if they used the same number. 100 and 200 used the same block part number 354898 R3 and SA after serial number 310000 plus all SC used 354898 R1.

It doesn't necessarily have to be out of another tractor. IH built a power unit that used the C123 engine and sold it on skids, installed it in balers and on combines. Those had a dipstick for checking the oil.

Also, a C123 out of a Super A (actuall Super A1 (aay-one, not aay-eye)) would be rare. They only made a few of those.

There is a place under #1 plug behind the throttle rod .The # there will give a clue where the engine came from. It could start with FC or FAA. Look for # down below the mag eg 3*8*W first number is month second number is day and letter is year
