The fan hub has a sleave type bearing, the hub holds an amount of oil in it so that the bearing runs in oil.In your hub you will find a slotted screw head, this is where you add oil.

Thanks, I already have a shop manual. It shouldn't be to much trouble for me to take care of. I thought i would have to replace it, but i wanted to see if there was another way. I'll probably take it in the shop Saturday. Thanks

Try oiling it first, it may free up. If the seals are bad, high temp gun grease may salvage it for several hundred hours of operation.

An alternative is to take the assembly to a machine shop and have them put sealed ball bearings in it. I have done this on several and it is easy and works great. My machinist is free, but I think you can get it done for $50 or so.

For everybody else, if you have an A, B or C and have not added oil to the fan hub recently (or can't remember when you did) do it now. They last a long time with a little oil and you pretty much don't know you have a problem until it siezes up or growls really loud.

A common reason for failure is overtightening the generator belt. That is why I like the ball bearings, but only after the sleeve bearings have failed.
