I used a long snipe (6 ft.) and got the bolts for the track frames to turn just a touch. Then the 3/4 electric impact took them out. Put the frames upside down and wacked the bolts pretty hard a few times. Of 40 bolts 10 broke. Only 3 on the second track frame. Didn't heat any though but the ones that broke were pretty rusty. Some had no rust. Kind of odd. I'm going to weld a nut or something on the broken ones. That usually makes them turn out easy. Pretty deep threads in the track frame. Quenching red hot steel can weaken it and/or cause hard spots. It all depends on the temperature. If it's above the critical temperature can weaken the steel. I think it's around 1600 deg. Drilling rigs often need some straightening using heat and quenching and sometimes heavy weights applied. I worked at a place that had a 4000 lb. sand bag they used for straightening. I discovered the idler yokes just pull right out with no disassembly required. If the roller bolts had been say 5/8 instead of 1/2 inch, I think I might have got them all out. 1/2 inch seems kind of small to me for something that will have to come out eventually. The track frames didn't fall right off because there are a couple of locating dowels on the brackets they bolt up to. I pounded a big chisel between the inner part of the track frame and the cross member and could see it start to come apart. Then I lowered the machine to ground and back up a couple times, and they finally came off. No rust on the locating pins, just a tight fit. Hopefully it goes back together a little easier with new hardware and everything cleaned up. Thanks to all who gave me advice. Now can just throw me some money for the new tracks? LoL. Dave
