I got some prices E-Mailed to me from a local supplier. I'm waiting for some more but wow! The prices are for Berco for a 1986 Cat 931B loader.
Lubricated rails $1971 EACH!
Single flange rollers (6 required) $200 each.
Double flange (4 required) $229 each.
Weld on sprocket ring $135. Apparently no sprocket assembly available. Total $6328 before Tax! I thought the Canadian dollar was doing good. CHinNY has way lower prices. Incredible! Dave

Dave,
can you change that setting so I can email you?

Those prices seem average to us in Australia.Seven years ago,Cat quoted me $11K on supply of a D3 undercarriage.
If you wanna feel RIPPED OFF,try these prices on track gear for 5 ton Furukawa,as quoted by Hitachi Australia : Sprockets $2100,Rollers $1100 , Idler $3900 , Carrier Roller $1500.

Jim

I forgot it was a holiday today. When I'm comparing prices, I'll make sure to compare apples to apples. I have heard that there are some undercarriage that isn't up to the quality of Cat or Berco. If I decide to replace it, I think I'm further ahead to spend more for the better stuff. Dave

Check with Tractor Tracs, Apex NC. They had good prices on some Cat undercarriage parts when we replaced the undercarriage on our 935C last summer. Some parts Cat had the best prices on. We learned it definitely pays to shop around.

Get a quote from a cat dealer it will make you feel better about that price. If you dont have a decent undercarriage you are not going to do quality work. undercarriage is not all that bad, put away $1.50 her operating hour and you will have a new UC when you need it.

I'm making a trip to Cat today for a comparison. I'm not doing work for other people. I'm doing it on my own land. If I was busy working as a contractor would make a big difference. Then you just get it done so you can make money, hopefully. Dave

Thats exactly the reason why my father traded his trackloader in on a case hoe. Decided to sub out the loader work and he's never been happier. He just couldn't make enough money on the loader to cover the repairs. It's a shame how those companies charge out the wazoo. I guess if you run a dozen trackloaders and two dozen hoes you can afford that kind of thing now and then, but not the little guys. Its almost too tough to make any money now, especially the way things have gotten in construction.

New undercarriage should last 4000 hours or more. A new machine is way over $100,000. Twice the price for undercarriage in Canada is totally absurd. Dave
