Bobcat made a 1600 articulating loader as well. It would not have 160 HP. A 3 or 4 yd. loader would be closer to 160 HP. I operated a Swinger articulated loader that is similar. On even slightly uneven ground they can tip real easy. Especially if you turn the wrong way. I discovered this the hard way. I suspect that's one of the reasons Bobcat quit making them. They are nicer and easier to sit in but a skid steer would work circles around one. They would cause less tearing on grass and would have a higher travel speed than a skid steer though. Dave

Why are they prone to tipping? Are they a lot higher and narrower than a skidloader? Know anywhere they have the specs on them? The bobcat site has old skidloader specs, but none on a loader like this.

I have a Wilmar Wrangler and they are unstable when carrying weight when you turn them. You want to keep forks low and be careful. I have never flipped mine but i go slow and watch it when i'm carrying heavey loads and always dump when the machine is straight.

They have a higher center of gravity and even if you look at the specs on larger wheel loaders, the tipping load at full turn is less than when straight. It's kind of the same as a crawler machine. If you were working on a side hill, you'd want a crawler tractor over a rubber tired tractor. My skid steer will slide sideways before it will tip over unless there is a hole or the slope is way too steep to be on. Articulated loaders have to be used in flat conditions. Dave

Thanks for the info. Think I will stay away from it since our farm is one giant hill/valley.

I doubt that it has 160HP. My Bobcat 722 has a 1.6L Ford industrial engine. Bobcat used it in several models. Good engine and parts still are available thru Ford for alot less than Bobcat. It only puts out about 45-50HP. At 160HP it would be screaming. They are good machines for what they do.

I read somewhere that they tip over on there side easily? What have you found? Are they pretty manuverable? I was thinking of using it to move round bales, and to clean out manure. I read somewhere that they lift 2000 lb.

It looks like a Bobcat 2000. Or it could be a 2400. My best guess is it is a 2000 that has had an engine swap. These orginally had a perkins diesel in them.

Do a GOOGLE search for more info.
