My dad and I purchased a 1965 International Harvester T-6 crawler with a Drott skid-shovel attachment. The steering clutches were frozen when we got it so we had to rebuild those. I just recentley took it into town to the grain elevator and weighed it. It weighed 14,000 pounds. The started just went out on it. The "nose" on the starter broke off so the starter wore out fast. We are having a hard time finding one. If you can help me let me know. Once we fix it we are considering selling it and getting something smaller. Let me know if you are interested. Thanks

I called a salvage yard about a 560 starter. He said it would spin the wrong way too. He said farm tractors mounted from the other way than a crawler. Any other suggestions??

The weight seems a little high, I just bought a TD9 92 series with the Drott bucket and rear counter weight, spare motor with turbo, and rear final drive with sprockets and it weighed 14,800. Just my few pennies worth!!

I have a T6 and the engines for the T6 and the M are basically the same but the starters face different directions so an M starter won't work (turns wrong direction). I'm not sure if the nose cone is the same though. That part is called the drive housing, part #1880872 on the Delco-Remy starter 1107435 that fits the T6. Good luck.

The later model T-6's had 6-cylinder engines, I think. Probably same as 460 or 560 tractors.

Yes, the starter from a Farmall M should work, the motors were the same.

Per the IH book Shipping weight with standard equipment was 14,125#

Maybe I am wrong here, but a T6 is essentially a Farmall M. The starter out of an M tractor would work and they go for about $50 used. 14,000 seems a lttle high on the weight, but if you weighed it, it should be correct. My T6 with a Drott loader weighs a little over 10,000 lbs.
