I can purchase a 1949 Cletrac AG6 (ser 3x8394) dozer with a heil push blade. Undercarriage is in good shape, controls are free, motor is not. It is a 6 cyl super hurricane. Everything is there except the front mounted Hyd pump was removed and lost. It looks like a good restoration project. Water has been kept out of the motor and I think it would free up. No major welding on blade or machine. Tracks pins and sprockets appear very good. What would be a fair price for this machine. Is there any demand for them?

If it has the Jeep engine it does not have the 226 industrial engine. One thing, Parts for a 226 Continental are still available at decent prices. Hydraulic pumps, I would go with a new gear pump rather than look for a new one. Questions? J.

go to cletrac.org, check out zimmermans ( link is on the board), they have parts. The AG6 is a nice machine. In the shape you are talking about worth less than $1000. Good running examples not restored are in the $2500- $6000 range. You won"t make a profit but old machines have other virtues.

I wouldn't want to put much into an old machine that doesn't run. There was a reason for it being parked. I'd consider offering scrap price,if I were you,and negotiate downward from there.Running and operating it wouldn't be worth more than 3/4 grand.
