I have several Model M's I use in my discing business. I hardley see much discussion on this tractor. Does any body else out there have a Model M they use for discing? I put a lot of hours on mine each year. I pull a 8 ft AC disc. Stan

What am I missing here? My AC M is a crawler.
What are these guys talking about with the tire stuff? Why would you haul an AC M on a 1-1/2 ton truck with a disc hanging over the back. My AC M weighs 6000 lbs. Confused in Pa.?

I HAD THE FRONT TIRES FILLED WITH FOAM, NOT CHEAP,BUT OVER TIME IT HAS SAVED MONEY ON TIRE REPAIR AND WORK STOPAGE/DOWN TIME. WHEN YOU USE THE M AND A PULL BEHIND DISC, HOW DO YOU LOAD THE DISC? WHERE DO YOU LIVE? IF YOU DO NOT COMPETE FOR WORK, I WOULD SHOW YOU TOOLS I HAVE DESIGNED TO SPEED THE WORK AND MAKE THE CODE INSPECTOR HAPPY.

My Dad farmed and did discing for the local flower and tomato growers here in Southern Calif. He passed away in the early 90's. I started his business up a few years after his passing. In 1954 he purchasrd a 1 1/2 ton chevy flat bed truck. it has a 8ft X12 ft. bed. to get the tractor up on the truck he used two 4X16X20 ft.planks.with the planks angeled down to the ground the tractor starts up the planks with disc attached. When the tractor is about 1/2 way up the planks the front end of the truck comes off the ground about 4 ft. now you need to go fairly slow so the front end of the truck doesn,t slam to the ground, and comes down real easy. With the M on the bed of the truck the disc hangs over the back supported by the planks. Here in calif we are allowed 2/3 of the wheel base over hang behind the truck bed. whick is 9 ft. I have been stopped one time and checked, and was within the 9 ft.This loading has been done hundreds of times. I still use the old 54 chevy truck. I wish I could post a picture, but haven't mastered that computor skill yet. Stan

AS A SECOND BUSNESS I CLEAN EMPTY LOTS OF WEEDS AND TRASH.SOME TIMES THE TOOL OF CHOICE IS A DISC.EVEN THOUGH I HAVE AN M I USE A MOUNTED DISC ON A WHEEL TRACTOR FOR EASE OF TRANSPORT . I WOULD LIKE TO USE THE M AND ELIMINATE TIRE DAMAGE.

I work nights in a computor factory and do lot and field and lot clean up also during the day. I know what you mean about flat tires. I also have a mower on a furgenson model 203. I try to use instead of discing. It is so much easier, Just last week I had a puncture on one of the rear tires. One of my front tubes had around 20 patches. I finally had to replace the tube when I started getting holes on previous patches. Stan
