What does it mean when the big light flashes red at the top of the instrument panel & the twin lightening marks flash red when starting. I have'nt found a book yet. doesn't seem to be important but its scary.

Lightning mark is "alt charging" and should go out when the engine starts. The big light is to draw your attention to the pannel.

The small wire with a cap that pushes onto the pin on the alt carrys a 12v pulse to the computer to keep that light off.

The terminal on the ALT is actually the "R" terminal and it creates an A/C current that signals the EMS in case of a low current conditon. There is no computer on this era of tractor. The big light in the middle is the fault light which is the second stage warning. The warnings are as followed LED warning on the EMS, Fault light, Action alarm. When you turn your key on you should have a lightning bolt and an oil press light flashing. With no action alarm. If your action alarm is going off you have another problem. Any questions feel free to ask me have more than 60000 hrs around these models and are a very good machine
