Hi!

I was wondering if anyone could help me out. I am waiting for a manual to show up for this skid steer but in the mean time I have two questions. First the skid steer is hydro static and has seperate pumps from the lifting cylinders. There is a resovor in the front of the unit for hydraulic fluid. It appears to be watery and golden color. The unit lifts fine but stalls when you try to turn. Is this do to the watery hydralic fluid or is there something else. I used to have an old Bobcat 444 that had to have automatic tranny fluid to operate properly but I was told to use the golden oil in this one. Second the engine is a Wisconsin VH4D and is a bear to start I always have to chock it to get it to start even if it is hot. Any thoughts as to why this is? You guys run a great discussion forum keep it up! Thanks.

Hello James, I'm not familiar with your skid-steer but have quite a bit of experience on Bobcats, and it does sound like you have a drive system pressure problem and most likely the damage has already been done, however I would change the fluid and filter, I dont know whats recommended for your skid-steer you might call a dealer and ask for sure, but I have always used the top-of-the-line grade hydraulic oil, ah yes the old Wisconsins, your experience is the same as mine, every one I have saw had this same problem. I have been told it is because of where the carb. is located after you shut it off the radiant heat off the cylinders is coming back up around the carb. and is enough to boil the gas in the carb., I dont know this to be true it sounds really dangerous but actually it makes sense.
