The filter base come from the 70 series. The original filtering system was a bit of a mess and a pain to get primed if you were somewhere that you couldn't fill the tank completely full. Also the 1st stage filter element was not available anymore.

The 70 series system has a hand primer pump and the relief valve is in the filter base. The Charge pump is plumbed in between the primary and secondary filters. When we started it the first time we pumped the primer until we had fuel coming back into the tank from the return line. Cranked her over and she popped right off with out having to crack an injector line. It uses the same filters as our 870's so we don't have to keep an extra set of filters on hand(2390 filters fit but you can't get the dipstick out with the longer secondary filter on).

If I was restoring it for a museum I would probably keep the original system on, but After taking the fuel pump on and off a couple times I figured that there had to be a better way to filter the fuel that made it more user friendly. I am saving all the original parts that came off the tractor.

Very nice job, I have used the 3.8 Utech also with great results. I really like the Utech 3.5 system also.

I also noticed it looks like your air cleaner is different from original. The precleaner is added but the can down below looks different too. Just wondering why the update? Did you change from oil bath to a paper filter? Very nice and impressive looking tractor by the way.

You are very observant! That is a 970 dry element air cleaner, air goes through the filter backwards, had to seal the can because filtered air is on outside. Also has 930 intake manifold for better air flow. What you can't see is that engine was rebuilt with 4.25 sleeves and pistons and heads were machined to take 930 intake valves.

Ahh, I thought you might be up to something!
I didn't notice the manifold until after I sent the last inquiry, but it was the change of wheel weights and drawbar supports that tipped me off.
As long as its all JICase parts, it all looks good to me! She sure is a beauty!

Really nice job.

How did you get the dents out of the rear of the fenders? All of my old Case tractors have similar dents and I would like to get them out.
