I have a 1968 1030 that I'm rebuilding the front end on because it handles and steers like crap. I'm replacing the front bolster bushings, and the front mount with 2 bushings is egged out. Do you guys have any tips to fix this? If I pressed the new bushings in, they would only contact about 3/4 of the bore.

I'm going to weld up the front bushing hole, but I was wondering if anybody knew if the front block on the axle is cast iron or cast steel?

I've got the same problem on my 830. I'm thinking about taking the front beam to a machine shop, having them ream it oversize and turning my own bushings. It's a great warning system, though -- I can tell when the front end is getting light by the "clunk" as the axle unloads!

Re-boring is one solutution and inserting an oversize bushing is a good fix, we have welded up the hole and rebored it.
