I have two tractors to work on and they have the same problem they get stuck in a gear.What is the fix to this ?Ill be reading the archives after this so i can gain all the info i can.

Pretty common problem as the tractor gets some age on it. Pretty easy fix if you don't have to get into the gears and bearings.

Getting aggravated at the tractor when it does that only makes the problem worse. We had one that we left the snap ring out of the shifter becuase of this.

Believe me when I say that you learn to shift very gently when you don't have the snap ring to hold the shifter in place.

Wornen shift linkage and or weak springs in the detents balls. If sticking in gear its worn parts in the shifter most of the time. If it pops out of gear the springs and or bearing. Theres other thing also but can't think of them right off hand

thanks i have to get in to these things. the guy is getting pissed that they keep doing it .It happens when you shift.
