I have a parts B and I'm trying to figure out if the drawbars changed over the years on the B. The parts B has the round shape drawbar that sticks out past the axles in the back and the one on mine is straight across between the axles. Also, how do you remove the drawbar? I see a bolt and what looks like a stud but can't figure out how to remove it from the axle housing.

take out the 5/8 inch bolt (older is 1/2). soak the pin and steel arm with pentrating oil. smack the steel arm up and down a few times, then drive a chisel behind it and see if the pin starts to move out of the hole.

This is a standard B drawbar. All farm tractors need to have the drawbar hook point well behind the rear tires. If not it would be easy when turning sharp to have the tire catch and pull the implement up and over the driver.

The swinging drawbar used on both the B's and C's.

The drawbar is held in place with two brackets as shown laying on the drawbar in the picture. One bolt on each side.

This picture shows the bracket on the final drive.

Hi Dick,

Thanks for the pictures and clarification. How do you remove the drawbar from the final drive in the last picture? I was able to remove the one bolt but wasn't sure how to remove the pin from the bracket. This is like the one I have on a parts tractor and would like to remove it and put it on the one I'm restoring?

After the bolt is out and then the pin is (not) rusted in, (most of the time) you can tap it back and forth while prying away from the drawbar. I have had the bracket break off of the pin at the weld and then it is heat on the fimal drive casting while working the pin with a longer bar welded onto the pin.

Ok, thanks. Maybe I'll get lucky and get the pin to come out without breaking anything. When you say tap it back and forth, I'm guessing on the flat bracket itself. I haven't unbolted the plate under the final drive to get at it from inside the housing.

You can't get to it from the inside the final drive. The hole for the pin is drilled into a cast in lobe. It would leak oil if not.

you can;t get at the pin from inside the housing. it must be removed from the outside as described. Bob
