I understand the WC engine through the D-17 are basically the same other than power improvements. Did it go any further than that? Are all these interchangeable?

Crank from a 17 won't swap with a wc. Pistons will but have different compression ratios due to crank and or wrist pin to top of piston distance. The water pump from the wc will have to be used and must have the mounting holes drilled out to fit studs on 17. The crank pulleys are different The 17 pulley will work but the belt will run slightly off or you could machine the wc pulley to fit. The oil filter feed lines will have to be rerouted in order to miss the steering shaft if the 17 engine has the full flow oil system. The oil pump must match the drive gear on the camshaft (either use the 17 pump w/17 cam or wc pump w/ wc cam or change gear on pump). Can't think of anything else at the moment.

They will interchange. Some changes are increased crank throw, bigger pistons, Power-Crater pistons, increased high idle speed- all create more power.

Can't say on the D-17 engine but the WC, WD and WD45 engines will all fit into any of them and its just a simple bolt in. Not sure if the D-17 engine will or will not bolt in to them
