My dad and I recently purchased a WC serial # 83494 (could anyone give me the year?) The thing that I'm wondering about is the exhaust-most of the "styled" WC's that I have seen I thaught had the exhaust pipe running through the hood. The exhaust on this one runs off to the side. I checked the hood and there is no evidence that there was ever a hole in the hood. Go easy on me this is my first orange tractor, I usually have green blood.

Tractor #WC83494 was one of 16,071 units built in 1939. And it should have had a "Styled" radiator, according to my book. The book says 1938 was the last year for unstyled radiators, and also the first year for the styled radiator. So if Allis was like a lot of manufacturers they used up the parts, so you may have a conglomeration. I have a 1946 that has an angled exhaust, but I've been told that somebody probably changed it. Boy I'll bet you are really confused now. Good luck Don

No, its not weird. Your WC has a two fuel manifold on it. Unstyled WC tractors most always had a two fuel manifold on them. That is why your tractor has the slanted exhaust. When the two fuel manifold burned out, most farmers would replace them with a gasoline manifold since "tractor fuel" was a thing of the past by 1950. Look a little closer and you should find a small fuel tank on it along with the main tank. To have one with an uncut hood is unusual. Hope this answered your questions, Brian
